The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association has submitted revised application and renewal forms to the Texas Department of Insurance for approval. The new forms are applicable to both residential and commercial policies. The revised forms are part of TWIA’s effort to implement a law passed in 2019 that requires the wind insurer to accept payment by credit card and permits the policyholder to remit payment in two installments. TDI is also reviewing the changes that are planned for the payment screens on the TWIA website. A public hearing on the new forms and website screens will be held only if requested by Nov. 5. Comments on the proposed changes are due to TDI by Nov. 16. By the end of next year, TWIA plans to upgrade its billing system to accept additional installment payment options.
